Melissa Howard, with the US Forest Service, sent this note to Beth Hurst-Waitz of Central New Mexico Audubon and me. Good to hear of the progress towards rehabilitation of the famous "Bird Log."

The Log at Capulin Spring

Ken

Hi, Ken and Beth,

Good news--Cid Morgan at Sandia Ranger District asked me to let you know that the Forest Service silviculturist has picked out a log for the water trough. The contractor, who has just started work on the picnic area, will move the log close to the water source and leave it there for the winter. The renovation involves pouring concrete, which can't happen until spring, but as soon as that part of the project is  done Cid wants Audubon to be very involved (or maybe do all the work) on the log.
