Alan Mickelson, Coordinator of the Sandia Crest Rosy-Finch feeder program, advised that the feeders were put up today. The birds usually show up during the first week of November.
If you visit the Crest, please keep an eye out for the early arrivals. Larger flocks, hopefully of all three species are usually in before the end of November.
Let's hope that the disappointing reduction in their numbers last year was an anomaly. A generous early snowfall will help spur their migration. Please enter sightings in the log maintained at Crest House, and post to this FORUM.
Of course, the Rosy-Finch flag will start waving as soon as we get word of the first sighting.
