Hi Ken,
I just returned from the Crest, where it was 28 degrees (F) and clear with a 20-25mph wind at 2:00PM. The road and the parking lots were clear and much of the snow cover is gone from the upper mountain.
I have attached a log update. The log entries and the Crest House staff confirm that the number of finches coming to the deck at a given time is decreasing. Given that the snow cover is diminishing, the birds may be dispersed along the Crest, but it also is possible that staff's impression that some birds have left the area may be correct. My advice to people wanting to see the finches this season would be to come soon if at all possible.
