Albuquerque, NM – June 17, 2011. Cibola National Forest and Grasslands Supervisor Nancy Rose announced that the Sandia and Magdalena Ranger Districts are moving to Stage III fire restrictions at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, June 20, 2011. “We have been closely monitoring conditions on these districts and based on their assessments and the National Weather Service predictions of ongoing drought, I feel it is necessary to move to Stage III fire restrictions to prevent human-caused wildfires and to protect public health and safety,” said Rose.
These fire restrictions will be rescinded on October 31, 2011 or when there is sufficient precipitation to lessen the risk of extreme fire behavior.
