Rosy finch count from 7th Jan 2009

I received this e-mail from a UK birder. His analysis of the photograph is interesting. I asked him to send any other images from his trip.

Hi Ken,

I don't know if this information will be of any use to anyone but I visited Sandi Crest on the 7th Jan this year to see the Rosy-finches. Attached are two copies of the same photo I took from the decking at about mid-day. I'm a birder from the UK and came specifically to see the Rosy-finches. The images show the finches in trees, my count is of around 73 birds, see the ones marked with yellow dots. I've plenty more pictures of the birds from that day. Sorry its taken me so long to get around to this but I'm now only just updating my trip journal.

Hi Ken,

thanks for getting me started on the forum. As I said in my email my visit to the Crest was during a weeks solo birding trip that I arranged back in Jan 2009. My itinerary was to bird Sandia Crest on the first full day of my visit and then move south down to The Bosque Del Apache. Following on from there I spent a few days in the Truth or Consequences area taking in Water Canyon, Elephant Butte, Percha Dam etc. I later returned to the Crest on the 11th.
Here are a few of the photos that I managed to take during my first visit. I've plenty more!
