Here is Dave Weaver's report as of today, March 4th. The log is
available at this link.
Hi Ken,
I went up to the Crest this morning, where it was 20 degrees (F) with winds of about 40 mph and very light snow flurries. No snow accumulation is expected today though. The road and parking lots were clear. The snow is melting pretty quickly and is patchy up to about 9000 feet with a maximum of 2 feet at the top.
People report seeing mixed flocks of finches of up to 100 birds, although 30 - 50 seems more typical. The Crest House staff say that the birds come much more often in the mornings these days. Of course we cannot predict how long the birds will be around, but it would seem that as things warm up and the snow clears the birds might depart relatively early this spring.
I have attached a log update. I plan to go up to the Crest again in about a week.
Hope all is well for you and yours!
Dave
