Dave Weaver, co-coordinator of the rosy-finch feeding project, sent this on November 22, after returning from his trip. His photo was taken about 10:30am on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at Salt Creek in Death Valley National Park.

Hi Ken,
I went up to the Crest this morning, where it was 28 degrees (F), sunny and calm. The road was passable, but rather slippery in the places where a sheen of water was on top of about 1/2 inch of ice. The road ice was above the 9 mile marker and all the way to the top.
I have attached a log update, and I note that you two had success in seeing the finches. Good thing, after coming all this way.
I also have attached a photo of a young coyote at Salt Creek in Death Valley. This version is reduced in size for email, but has not been cropped or altered in any other way. Very cooperative subject.
Hope you made it home okay, and that your Thanksgiving is a fine one!
