Up to 8 inches of snow are expected in the East Mountains through Friday, JAN 8-- more could fall on Sandia Crest. Follow Andy Mayer's reports from Crest House on Facebook for latest conditions:

Alan braved the conditions to transcribe the latest entries in the Sightings Log.

All three species including the Hepburn's subspecies have been present.

On Sunday, Nancy Cox reported her hope that banding will be possible on Sunday, January 10. This past Monday she wrote:

"I am so glad I went to the Sandia Crest House yesterday (Sunday JAN 3).  I always enjoy seeing the Rosy-Finches but it was great to see two of our color-banded Rosy-Finches.  They were both banded in 2009 when we were doing the transmitter work.  They were born in 2008 making them approximately 7 years and 6 months old now."
