Nancy Cox's report from the Banding Team)Sandia Crest Rosy-Finch banding project report February 18, 2017
Today we newly banded 9 more Brown-capped Rosy-Finches. We captured 30 Brown-caps that we had previously banded. We also had 3 Black Rosy-Finches that were previously banded. Two of them were originally banded in December 2015.
We saw about 200 Rosy-Finches in 3 flocks. There were mainly Brown-capped with a few Blacks and a few Gray-crowned.
The road was mostly clear. However, 4 – 9” of snow is predicted in the mountains for tonight and tomorrow. We are still planning to band tomorrow.
Thanks to the 4 volunteers we had today.
