The Sandia Crest Birding Forum is a feature of the Rosyfinch.com web suite.
Birders may now instantly exchange information about sightings, banding reports, photos, and links to news and research items relevant to rosy-finches and birding the Sandia Mountains east of Albuquerque, New Mexico. This is also the place to ask questions and obtain information for help in planning a birding trip to Central New Mexico and the Sandia Mountains.
Researchers from around the world who have an interest in rosy-finches and the entire Genus Leucosticte are encouraged to join in the discussions.
We will be very interested to hear about new rosy-finch research plans, if any, and the summaries of research on radio tracking and feather isotope studies.
Since this FORUM is meant to supplement the more general birding listservers such as the New Mexico Rare Bird Alert and the National Birding Hotline Cooperative AZ/NM Birds, be sure to report any unusual sightings directly to those entities, to assure they reach the broadest possible audience. And, do not forget to record all your sightings in eBird, now very easy to use.
We initiated a similar forum to share information and assist in coordinating the scheduling of observers and interpreters at a local Bald Eagle nest near our Florida home. It was very useful and popular, with over 40,000 visitors this past nesting season. You may wish to visit it here: Bald Eagles of Broward County, Florida Nest Watcher's FORUM.
The Rosy-Finch BIRDING FORUM replaces the much more labor-intensive "Correspondence" section of rosyfinch.com. Older correspondence may still be accessed from the drop-down menus on the home page of rosyfinch.com.
Your comments and suggestions are welcomed.
